The Ordinance came into force on the 1st Instant and I have published in the Government Gazette a Notification directing the taxes due on the quarter ending 30th September, to be paid into the Treasury between the 1st and the 31st of August.
4. I have appointed Mr. Aynsman who has been hitherto temporarily employed in the Police and Lighting Rate Collector's Department on a Salary of $480 or £100 per annum, to be Police and Lighting Rate Clerk in the Treasurer's department at a Salary of $720 or £150 per annum from the 1st Instant, as this officer has given me satisfaction by the manner in which he has hitherto done his duties, and the sum of £100 is not in my opinion sufficient to remunerate him.
I have also transferred the sub-collector whose pay is $450 or £100 per annum from the Police and Lighting Rate department to the Treasury, as his services will be required for the purpose of delivering the various notices required by the
